Where did you travel?
Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Date of Travel?
June 21st-June 28, 2025
Is this your first time visiting this location?
Yes
Why did you pick this location?
We had a week of Vacation points we needed to use for RCI and were trying to find somewhere new. We Had always heard how much fun Cabo was and since we mostly travel to Riviera Maya, we thought we try the west coast.
Name five highlights that replay in your mind
- The resort we chose was great, Playa Grande Resort. It was walking distance to downtown Cabo.
- We got massages listening to the waves on the top of a restaurant/bar called Sand Bar. Avg $50 for 60 minutes. It was a little strange as there were several people getting massages at once but the massages were worth it.
- We took a glass bottom boat tour to El Arco that was beautiful and a lot of fun.
- We also took a Mexican Sunset Dinner Cruise and Live Music. It was fantastic. Great music, show and food. Weather was perfect.
- The food at the resort was fabulous. We are glad we got the All Inclusive package.
What was the best day of the trip?
I can’t say there was any one day that stood out as better than the other. We enjoyed every day to the fullest. The weather was hot inland but cooler at the resort because it was elevated. So after being in the heat all day we enjoyed getting back to the resort for cooler temperatures.
What was the best meal you experienced?
The best meal was at the open air restaurant at the resort. We had Steak and lobster and it was cooked to perfection. That was our favorite meal.

How did the trip shift your perspective on life, home or the world?
My trip to Cabo San Lucas gave me a deeper perspective on how differently people can experience life, even within the same community. As we toured the area, the contrast in income levels was impossible to ignore. In some neighborhoods, we saw families living very modestly — one home even used a sheet in place of a front door, with sheets covering the windows as well. Yet not far away stood beautiful million-dollar homes overlooking the water.
In many ways, it reminded me that these kinds of economic disparities are not unique to Mexico; we see similar contrasts in America too. Still, witnessing it firsthand was disheartening and made me more aware of how fortunate many of us are.
We also noticed a significant amount of graffiti expressing frustration with the current U.S. administration. Seeing that was a reminder that decisions made in America can shape how people in other countries view us and experience the world around them. The trip encouraged me to think more deeply about inequality and privilege.
What challenges did you have during your trip that others can avoid?
I can’t say we really experienced anything too challenging. I We were thankful that we got the All Inclusive packages because the prices at the resort restaurants were pricey. We definitely got our money’s worth. Had we not gotten the package we probably would have eaten in town every night.
Maybe the most challenging was avoiding the street merchants and tour hustles. We booked most of our tours through Viator to avoid being over charged for tours.
What advice would you give to someone visiting that country for the first time?
I’d say, go with an open mind and pay attention to more than just the resorts and beaches. Cabo is beautiful, but there’s also a real contrast between luxury tourism and everyday local life that can be eye-opening. Explore beyond the resort area to give you a sense of their culture and community. Be respectful of the locals and their customs. Be kind and patient. (That goes for anywhere you travel, America included) Wear lots of sunscreen and stay hydrated.
