It was an event few said they would soon forget. The 11th annual Hearts for Helping, sponsored by the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County, is designed to spotlight difference-makers during an elegant evening of live music, dancing and food. And the dancefloor stayed packed.
Boys & Girls Club president and CEO Michael Johnson, who is celebrating 10 years of arriving to Madison, said the event also helped raise $225,000 which will benefit over 7,500 youth. The gala comes on the heels of the opening of the McKenzie Family Boys & Girls Club in Sun Prairie. It’s the organization’s third youth center and it’s the only brick-and-mortar building the organization owns outside of Madison.
Held Feb. 7, at the Madison Concourse Hotel and Governor’s Club, the night’s theme was Y2K20: The Future is Now. Showcased were the programs, volunteers and others who make significant contributions towards the Boy’s & Girls Club’s mission. The awardees included QBE North America; John and Jo Ellen McKenzie; Luke Briggs; and, Fred and Lonna Peterson.
