On Saturday, May 18, 2024, the Madison Metropolitan Chapter of the Links, Inc. (MMCLI) inducted 5 new members into its sisterhood at the beautiful Maple Bluff Country Club on a warm, sunny day overlooking Lake Monona with a spectacular view of the State Capitol. The new members, Danielle Hairston Green, Courtney Hayward, Ngozika Okaisabor, Karen Stroud Phillips, and Diamond D. Williams are an outstanding group of professional women who exemplify the high standards of The Links, Inc. organization.

The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit corporation, established in 1946. The membership consists of more than 17,000 professional women of African descent in 299 chapters located in 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, and the United Kingdom. It is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of extraordinary women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry. The Madison Metropolitan Chapter of the Links is known for sponsoring the Distinguished Community Service Jazz Brunch where it recognizes community members who represent the organization’s service facets: International Trends and Services, National Trends and Services, Services to Youth, Health & Human Services, and The Arts. Proceeds from that event contribute to organization’s scholarship fund. Each spring MMCL acknowledges the academic achievement of African American students in our area with a recognition program. Scholarships for outstanding graduating high school seniors planning to pursue post-secondary education are awarded. Since its chartering in 1985, MMCLI has awarded over $200,000 in scholarship money to deserving youth. For many years the Chapter has sponsored a middle school girls conference to encourage early adolescent girls to prepare themselves for high school and beyond.

The president of the Madison Chapter is Judge Nia Enemuoh-Trammell, and the Vice President and Membership Chair is Corinda Rainey-Moore. During the induction luncheon the Chapter celebrated its Platinum Members—members who have reached 80 years of age or given 30 years of service. The newly recognized Platinum Members are Yvonne Bowen and Jacqueline Rodman.

Congratulations to the Madison Metropolitan Chapter of the Links, Inc. new members. We look forward to the service they will perform in our community!
