On December 14, 2024, the 15th Annual Stanley Gospel Carols Concert will be held at High Point Church in Madison, Wisconsin, starting at 7 PM. This beloved event, which has become a staple of the holiday season, promises an unforgettable evening of traditional Christmas carols, infused with a unique gospel style and a Stanley twist.
Unity In the Community
The concert, sponsored by Leotha & Tamera Stanley since 2005, has a rich history of bringing the community together to celebrate the Christmas season. The Stanley’s have been the driving force behind the event for nearly two decades, providing a platform for local talent and creating an atmosphere of joy and unity. Over the years, the concert has moved between various venues, starting at Mount Zion Church, before finding short stays at Sun Prairie High School, Door Creek Church, City Church, and even a two-year stint at the Alliant Energy Center. This year, the concert returns to High Point Church, which promises to offer a warm and inviting space for what is expected to be another memorable evening.
A Unique Tradition of Giving Back
One of the most endearing aspects of the Gospel Carols Concert is its commitment to supporting local youth musicians. Each year, the concert breaks midway to present brand-new violins and violas to area middle school students, with the hope that some of these students will one day have the opportunity to perform alongside the choir and orchestra in future concerts. This special moment showcases the event’s dedication to nurturing the next generation of musicians and fostering a love of music within the community.
A Growing Event with an Expanding Reach
The Gospel Carols Concert has grown significantly over the years, attracting as many as 1,000 attendees in some years. This year, the concert aims to fill the High Point Church with music, laughter, and holiday cheer. Audiences can expect to hear a mix of timeless Christmas classics, all performed in a gospel style that brings new life to familiar tunes. The energy of the choir and orchestra, coupled with the spirited atmosphere, makes for a truly special evening.
Join in the Fun
One of the most cherished parts of the concert is the opportunity for attendees to join the performers on stage and sing along. This interactive moment brings the community together in a way that few events can, making it one of the highlights of the evening. Whether you are a seasoned singer or simply love the holiday spirit, you may find yourself called to the stage to share in the joy of the season.
