Scholarships for Black Students at Syracuse University
Syracuse
University has 10 Full Rides for African American Men and Women
Interested in Studying Architecture. Mark Robbins, Dean of Syracuse
University's School of Architecture is desperately seeking young men
and women of color interested in pursuing a five year professional
degree in Architecture. He says he's deeply committed to bringing
diversity to his field and has scholarship money set aside to fully
cover education costs for 10 students. He says that Hispanic
enrollment in the school has increased substantially, but it's been
harder to attract Blacks. Syracuse University's School of
Architecture has a great reputation and this seems like a terrific
opportunity, so please pass this on to everyone you know.

The Sable Flames/Jones-Robinson Scholarship application
This scholarship was created to honor the five children that
perished in the Sommerset Circle fire of 1990 in Madison, Wisconsin.
The children, who were African-American, came from a low-income
single parent household. Following this tragedy, The Sable Flames,
Inc., (the African-American Firefighters of the City of Madison Fire
Department) created a scholarship fund in the children's honor. The
scholarship is designed for those of a similar socioeconomic
background who are aspiring to improve their lives through higher
education.

Harvard
expands financial aid for low- and middle-income families
Reinforcing its
commitment to opportunity and excellence across the economic
spectrum, Harvard, on March 30, announced a significant expansion
of its 2004 financial aid initiative for low- and middle-income
families. Beginning with the class admitted this week, parents in
families with incomes of less than $60,000 will no longer be
expected to contribute to the cost of their children attending
Harvard. In addition, Harvard will reduce the contributions of
families with incomes between $60,000 and $80,000.
